The gentle acoustic sounds of the guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and upright bass will be heard once again in Neosho’s Big Spring Park on August 6, as the City of Neosho raises the baton for the Third verse of its annual Big Spring Bluegrass & BBQ. Neosho’s Big Spring Park is located three blocks west of the historic downtown Square at 308 W Spring St.
Close your eyes, lean back and tickle all the senses with sounds of bluegrass coupled with the aroma of apple, cherry and oak smoke hanging lazily over the park and the flavors of mouth-watering barbeque!
There is no admission fee to look, listen and smell. Tasting however, is provided by area barbecue vendors who will be on site offering smoked meats from pulled pork to brisket and everything in between. Food prices are set by the individual vendors.
Big Spring Bluegrass & BBQ will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and feature 11 bluegrass groups from around the area and beyond. The lineup for those groups in descending order is:
It’s going to be a day of great old-time fun, so pack up the babies, grab the old ladies, haul the lawn chairs along or go “Grateful Dead” on a quilt on the grass, and most important, harbor an appetite! Oh, to have The Jug Band or Grateful Dog for this event, but I regress!
